Damien Chazelle named Best Director for ‘La La Land’ at 2017 Golden Globe Awards
Filmmaker Damien Chazelle has been honored with a Golden Globe Award for Best Director for his film “La La Land,” at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards tonight, Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The yearly Golden Globe Awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and honor the best in motion pictures and television for the prior calendar year. Jimmy Fallon was the host of the celebration, bringing his unique brand of humor to the event. The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony was televised live on NBC.
“La La Land,” written and directed by Academy Award nominee Damien Chazelle, tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
This is the second Golden Globe Award win for filmmaker Damien Chazelle. He won a Golden Globe for Best Screenplay tonight for “La La Land,” tonight as well.
“La La Land” is rated PG-13 for language and has a run-time of 128 minutes.
